Dr. Jared Wellman, a distinguished alumnus of Criswell College, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and Philosophy in 2007, followed by a Master’s degree in 2010. During his senior year in high school, he felt called to ministry, and it was then that he began his journey at Criswell College.
Dr. Wellman’s journey to Criswell College began when Denilio Gorena, a 2002 Criswell graduate, introduced him to the school. Since then, his journey has been filled with memorable experiences. One of his most cherished memories at Criswell College occurred when he was walking past the courtyard with his student pastor. They saw a student alone, weeping and praying. After talking to him, they learned that he had sacrificed everything to come to school but was running out of money and didn’t know what to do. Dr. Wellman’s student pastor took time to talk and pray with him and then took his need back to their church, which took up a love offering for him. This experience showed Dr. Wellman the power of empathy and Christian love for one another.
Dr. Wellman’s Criswell education has had a profound impact on his life, ministry, and career. The theological foundation he received at Criswell has enabled him to pastor and preach with confidence and clarity. His education at Criswell has not only helped him understand the Bible more deeply, but it has also helped him understand how to apply its teachings to his daily life and ministry.

Building relationships with peers and professors is critical, and it is important to read the material thoroughly and think deeply about the subjects being learned.
