J.D. Points wears many hats—pastor, business leader, husband, mentor—but one identity ties them all together: Criswell alumnus. His life and ministry reflect the kind of theological grounding, servant-hearted leadership, and practical faithfulness that Criswell College seeks to instill in every graduate.
J.D. earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Criswell College, equipping him with the biblical and theological foundation he would need for a life of both vocational ministry and professional leadership. After graduation, he remained closely connected to the college, giving back in both visible and behind-the-scenes ways. In his capacity as Vice President and General Manager of Dalco, he has overseen extensive facility work on campus—often stepping in to serve when others might have only sent an invoice. His practical care for Criswell is matched by his willingness to serve in even more significant ways, as J.D. spent time as a member of the college’s Board of Trustees, helping to shape its future for generations of students to come.
But Criswell is more than a line on his résumé—it’s been a home. J.D. and his wife Carey even served as dorm parents in the college’s residence hall, offering wisdom, hospitality, and a steady presence for students navigating college and calling. Last year, they joined our sophomores on their service trip to Israel, serving alongside our students and ministering to Jewish and Palestinian residents of the region. That same heart for mentorship led J.D. to accept a place on the 2025 Criswell Legacy Awards Gala Committee, where he is helping organize the college’s largest annual fundraising event, to be held Monday, October 13 at the Dallas Arboretum.
Outside of Criswell, J.D. has faithfully led both in the marketplace and the local church. His leadership at Dalco—one of the region’s top HVAC and plumbing firms—has been marked by integrity, long-term relationships, and a commitment to excellence. But his deepest joy is found in pastoring. After initially serving as a volunteer associate pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Quinlan, Texas, J.D. was called as the church’s senior pastor. He and Carey moved into an RV near Lake Tawakoni to live among the people they serve, and they have since shepherded the church through seasons of growth, outreach, and hope.
J.D. Points is the kind of alumnus who lives out Criswell’s mission every day: grounded in Scripture, committed to the local church, and faithfully present in every sphere God places him.
