The Criswell Institute for Philosophy, Politics, & Economics

Our purpose is to help develop critical, Christian thought concerning philosophy, politics, and economics. We do so through research, writing, education, outreach, and praxis, exploring how the disciplines may effect positive change locally, nationally, and globally.

Our vision is to connect Christian believers with specific vocations, activities, and resources related to the fields of philosophy, politics, and economics. We interact and connect with activities and entities like:

  • Churches and ministries
  • Graduate schools and law schools
  • Elected and appointed officials
  • Business, microfinance, and community development
  • Non-profit institutes, centers, and foundations
  • Media outlets and publishers
  • Cultural events and the arts
  • Policy formation and analysis

Our core principles regarding philosophy, politics, and economics are:

Philosophy: Truth, goodness, and beauty exist, can be known, and are grounded in God’s nature and character.

Politics: Power tends to corrupt, and so should be separated among branches and levels of government. Limited government and the rule of law are foundational for human dignity and flourishing.

Economics: Since humans are fallen, utopian schemes tend toward more harm than good. Therefore, private property, entrepreneurship, free markets, and no unnecessary regulation are the ideal.

We are housed on the Criswell College campus, which helps facilitate interaction and cooperation between the institute, the college and its PPE academic program, and other like-minded individuals and organizations. It also provides space for physical resources, and allows Criswell students the opportunity to study, dialogue, interact, volunteer, assist with research, and intern in an atmosphere geared toward ideas and activities in which they will one day be involved vocationally.

We are funded by those who share our ideals. Our resources facilitate programming and involvement in the activities mentioned here.

NOTICE OF NON-DISCRIMINATION
Criswell College admits students who are Christians of good character, without regard or reference to race, national or ethnic origin, color, age, disability, or sex (except where regard to sex is required by the College’s religious tenets regarding gender and sexuality) to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of these classifications in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and other school-administered programs.
