DALLAS – The Board of Trustees of Criswell College unanimously approved a renovation and expansion plan of the current campus at their semi-annual meeting on April 2. The plan includes a complete renovation of the education space and the construction of a 180-bed dorm facility.
Ed Rawls, Chairman of the board’s properties committee, reminded the board of the school’s legacy in and around downtown Dallas. “God has just blessed this place for a lot of years, and there’s no reason to believe that’s not going to continue.”
The board also approved the return of Dr. Scott Bridger as Associate Professor of World Religions & Global Studies. After spending three years on faculty at the college, Dr. Bridger has spent the last year on faculty at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, leading The Jenkins Center for the Christian Understanding of Islam. He will begin teaching at Criswell in the fall. Dr. David Brooks was promoted to Senior Professor of Hebrew & Old Testament and Kirk Spencer was promoted to Senior Associate Professor of Science & History, as well.
In addition to the board activities, the college welcomed 45 prospective students to campus for the school’s Preview Day. Students were given a campus tour, attended chapel preached by Dr. Creamer, treated to lunch with professors and current students, and sat in a mock class on the grand narrative of Scripture with Bill Watson, Assistant Professor of Greek & New Testament.
