President Dr. Jerry A. Johnson to become President and CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters
Effective November 1, 2013, Criswell College President Dr. Jerry A. Johnson will become President and CEO of the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB). NRB seeks to proclaim the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ, to advance biblical truth, to promote media excellence, and to defend free speech. As President, Dr. Johnson will bring his gifts as both an administrator and minister of the gospel to continue NRB’s mission.
Dr. Jim Richards, Executive Director of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention and Criswell College trustee, says this of NRB’s new President and CEO: “Dr. Johnson was the right man for the right time at Criswell College. He was the catalyst for positive change. He will do the same at NRB. Godspeed, Jerry, as you go to serve our Lord in a new endeavor. As Criswell College continues forward with the expansion of curriculum and relocation to a residential campus, God will bring the leader who can move the school forward.”
While addressing the Criswell College family, Dr. Johnson said, “I still believe in Criswell College and what it means to be a Criswell man. Being a Criswell kind of person has always meant going when you believe God says go, and going where God says to go, wherever that may be. I believe it is the NRB at this time.”
Keet Lewis, Chairman of the Board of the Trustees at Criswell College, commented, “Criswell College has been faithfully led by Dr. Johnson for 7 1/2 years. During his tenure, he has led the college with great visionary oversight, including re-affirmed SACS accreditation, the offering of new degree plans both in classroom and online, and a vision for relocation to a residential campus.”
Mr. Lewis and Dr. Johnson met last week with the college’s Trustee Executive Committee to plan for the transition and will be bringing recommendations to the full Board of Trustees at their regular meeting on October 3, 2013.
