The W.A. CRISWELL CHAIR OF EXPOSITORY PREACHING
In 1970, out of his deep concern over liberalism seeping into the pulpits of America, Dr. W. A. Criswell founded Criswell College in Dallas to train a new generation of expository preachers who would stand confidently on the inerrancy and authority of the Bible as the Word of God.
What Spurgeon was to the 19th century, W.A. Criswell was to the 20th. An expositor and orator without peer, he had a scholar's mind, a pastor's heart and a missionary's zeal. He was devoted to the church of the Lord Jesus Christ, and he longed to see preachers prepared to preach the Bible for the salvation of the lost and growth in grace of the saved.
The Criswell Foundation, under Dr. Jack Pogue's leadership, leaves this legacy through the W. A. Criswell Chair of Expository Preaching for new generations of Christian leaders that is captured in the closing line of Dr. Criswell's weekly "Pastor's Pen" column in which he stated, "I'll see you Sunday with a Bible in my hand, and a message from God in my heart."
Dr. R. Alan Streett, Professor of Evangelism and Pastoral Ministry, has been named professor of the W. A. Criswell Chair of Expository Preaching at Criswell College. Dr. Streett is the author of The Effective Invitation and plans to re-launch the annual "W. A. Criswell School of the Prophets" in 2009. This national conference includes sessions featuring some of America's best preachers, as well as seminars that help pastors learn to prepare and deliver expository sermons.

HOPE FOR THE HEART CHAIR OF BIBLICAL COUNSELING
The purpose of the bachelors and masters counseling degree programs at Criswell College is to train biblical counselors to effectively minister to the needs of the hurting within a distinctly Christian worldview.
June Hunt is founder of Hope For The Heart, a worldwide biblical counseling broadcast heard daily across America (90.9 KCBI in Dallas) and a live two-hour call-in counseling program heard each week night. She has developed Counseling Through the Bible, a scripturally-based counseling course addressing 100 topics in her "reality counseling" format. June has also authored the Biblical Counseling Keys - a curriculum designed to teach healthy thinking and living patterns. These Counseling Keys have become the foundation for the Biblical Counseling Institute for Hope, initiated by the Criswell College, where June earned her Master of Arts degree in counseling.
Led by Dr. Steve Hunter, the Hope for the Heart Chair of Biblical Counseling program trains students to counsel people through issues and problems with biblical answers. The President and faculty of Criswell College believe that the key to successful, life-changing counsel is to have the Word of God indwell the person who is doing the counseling.
Criswell College President Dr. Jerry Johnson said, "There are a lot of hurting people out there who are not hearing the right messages. They may go to a psychologist or psychiatrist, but this is the Hope for the Heart Chair of Biblical Counseling, really emphasizing that God's Word has the answers."
“We have a world of people who want help and hope, and they need to know how to think biblically so that they will have joy and the peace of God.” – June Hunt, Founder of Hope for the Heart Ministry
“My desire, and the purpose of Hope for the Heart, is to train Christians in how to effectively minister to the hurting through God’s Word.” - Dr. Steve Hunter, Professor of Psychology and Counseling, Dean of Students, and Head of Hope for the Heart Chair for Biblical Counseling
“You don’t have to be a professional counselor to take courses in biblical counseling. This is also for laymen, Sunday School teachers, anyone who wants to have the tools.” – Dr. Jerry Johnson, President of
