Criswell College student Chris Blacknall died early Monday morning (Nov. 28) in Arlington. Blacknall, 32, was a biblical studies major from Duncanville, Tex. scheduled to graduate in May 2017.
Although details have not yet been released from the Tarrant County coroner’s office, according to preliminary police findings Blacknall apparently died from a medical condition.
“Chris was a bright, engaging young man who was well liked among both his peers and his professors,” said Criswell president Barry Creamer. “Our college is a close-knit community, and his sudden death leaves a mark on all of us.”
Jeff Campbell, Criswell preaching professor and dean of students, first met Chris and his father when he assumed the role of dean in early 2015 before having Chris as a student in three classes.
“Chris Blacknall was kind and caring to me and those with whom I saw him interact,” Campbell said. “He will be missed at Criswell College.”
Creamer announced Blacknall’s death in an email sent to students, staff, and faculty of Criswell Tuesday afternoon. He said the college’s counseling professors and dean of students were available to assist students with grief counseling.
“Chris overcame great obstacles to pursue his education at Criswell, and as a community we wish to celebrate his life as we mourn alongside his family,” Creamer said. “I will be praying along with the entire Criswell family for those closest to him as they navigate the difficult times that lie ahead.”
A viewing will be held from 2-9pm on Friday, December 2nd, at Goldengate Funeral Home in Dallas. The funeral service is scheduled for 11am on Saturday, December 3rd, at Glendale Presbyterian Church.
