Dear Alums:
Grace to you.
Welcome to the new website of The Criswell College Alumni Association! The excitement around here has been great as we have been diligently working to keep you updated on our alma mater, current chapel service speakers, special events at the College and just keeping up with each other. The Alumni Association is beginning to work on an effort to keep you connected to current Administration, Faculty and students. This connection will help you know how you might pray specifically for and/or support the College in different ways.
Here is how you might begin helping your alma mater today:
- Engage. There may be some in your churches that are seeking to enhance their lives through Christian Education. The Criswell College is the best educational option for them because of the great vision of Dr. W.A. Criswell. Our College was originally started for the purpose of training men in the preaching ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. Serving as the President of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1969, Dr. Criswell, after visiting many pastors in the Convention, saw the need for educating pastors in the truth of the Word of God. The same year he wrote the book Why I Preach That the Bible is Literally True. He also saw the need for pastors to preach expositorily and how that affects change in the hearts and minds of people. However, Dr. Criswell's vision did not stop there. He further envisioned that our College would become the greatest Christian university in the South offering many different degree plans with the special niche of requiring every student to go through a core of Biblical studies that included language studies in Greek and Hebrew. In order to see Dr. Criswell's vision come to fruition, it will take us engaging those interested in Christian Education and encouraging them to prayerfully consider our alma mater.
- Enlist. Once we have engaged those interested in Christian Education, we need to then enlist them to become students of The Criswell College. The last time I checked (and I check often!), I currently have eight (8) students that I engaged and enlisted to fulfill their calling to Christian Education at The Criswell College. For some that may seem like a lot of students and to others that may not seem like many; however, the point is that it takes all of us enlisting others to attend our alma mater. It is not over yet! There are still people that I meet in my church and other churches that are seeking the quality Christian Education that The Criswell College can and will provide.
- Encourage. The final step in helping our alma mater is to encourage our current Administration, Faculty, Alumni and Students. It comes as no surprise that the devil is on the prowl-he is seeking to devour as many of us as he possibly can. In order to stand against the wiles of the devil, we need to be connected to the Lord Jesus Christ, to each other and to service! And we can be through the encouragement that we as brothers and sisters in Christ extend to one another.
Engage, Enlist and Encourage! The Criswell College Alumni Association is seeking to help our alma mater continue to fulfill the vision of Dr. W.A. Criswell. This website will help to keep you informed so check back often as we will continue to keep you up-to-date on the happenings of our alma mater.
