Registration

Pre-registration

Pre-registration for returning students begins April 3 for the Fall 2017 semester and November 6 for the Spring 2018 semester. Students pre-register for courses in their CAMS Student Portal. Since classes can fill up quickly, it is important to pre-register as early as possible in order to reserve a seat in your courses (see Waitlist Information). Students are encouraged to obtain academic advising in the Registrar’s Office during pre-registration in order to expedite completion of the registration process during Early Registration or Official Registration.

Step-by-Step Instructions: How to Preregister for Classes in CAMS

Early Registration

Early Registration for returning students is July 10–August 4 for the Fall 2017 semester and December 4–22 for the Spring 2018 semester. Students will receive academic advising in the Registrar’s Office, and will then clear the Financial Aid Office, Student Accounts, and Student Services Office in that order. Upon completion of the process, students are considered officially registered and cleared to attend classes. Students are not allowed to attend classes until all registration requirements have been met.

Please keep in mind that finalizing your registration any time other than official registration week might take longer as staff members may not be available when you arrive on campus. You will need to arrange time with each office to ensure that you are able to complete all registration requirements.

Official Registration

Official Registration for returning students is August 7–11 for the Fall 2017 semester and January 8–12 for the Spring 2018 semester. Students will receive academic advising in the Registrar’s Office, and then clear the Financial Aid Office, Student Accounts, and Student Services Office in that order. Upon completion of the process, students are considered officially registered and cleared to attend classes. Students are not allowed to attend classes until all registration requirements have been met. Campus office hours during Official Registration week are as follows:

Monday  8:30 am – 7:30 pm
Tuesday  8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Wednesday  8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Thursday  8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Friday  8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Please keep in mind that many students will wait until the final day to finalize their registration. Plan on registering early in the week if you want to avoid long lines.

Late Registration

Late Registration is August 21–25 for the Fall 2017 semester and January 22–26 for the Spring 2018 semester (note, there is no Late Registration for Term 1 and Term 2). Students who register during this period will incur a late registration fee. Students will receive academic advising in the Registrar’s Office and will then clear the Financial Aid Office, Student Accounts, and Student Services Office in that order. Upon completion of the process, students are considered officially registered and cleared to attend classes. Students are not allowed to attend classes until all registration requirements have been met.

Summer & Winter Terms

Students can pre-register for courses in the summer and winter terms in their CAMS Student Portal. Although students are not required to obtain academic advising in the Registrar’s Office, it is recommended that they contact them if they have any questions. Students who are receiving military benefits must meet with the VA Certifying Official in the Registrar’s Office for approval of courses.

To complete official registration for the summer term, students must pay their balance due and clear Student Accounts. This must be done prior to the beginning of the term. There is no late registration for summer and winter terms.

Add/Drop Course

Students making course schedule changes during or after Late Registration must file a properly approved Add/Drop Course Form with the Registrar’s Office in a timely manner and pay a fee for each change. To add or drop a course, the student must have the signed approval of the assigned faculty advisor, the Financial Aid Office, Student Accounts, and the Registrar’s Office; the process must be completed by the dates listed in the Academic Calendar. Failure to comply may result in receiving no credit for attending the class. Students who decide to withdraw from the college subsequent to enrollment are required to sign a notice of withdrawal to be placed on file in the Registrar’s Office.
